Strange timing
I am in the middle of adding injectors, adjusting the valves and setting the injection timing. The injectors went pretty well. Man, were my old ones dirty. They only have 307k on them. Then I went on to find TDC so that I could set the injection timing and adjust the valves. Good news, my timing pin seemed to be correct. (I checked it using a rod through the injector hole) But when I checked the injection timing I found it at 1.67mm and one of the nuts was missing from the pump(the hard one). This truck was supposedly not bombed when I bought it. I am guessing that somone tried to "time it by ear". I will replace the missing nut before I go any further. But am wondering if I should set the timing to 1.5mm as Piers suggested( I am adding the Lucas injectors and don't want the extra smoke), or should I run it where it is?
