Here comes another Newbie!

I have owned this truck for 8 years. Was thinking about a replacement (another brand),. Thought I would look into this website. Well....It looks as though I will keep this one and BOMB it some....Now...For the question, what is recommended first? Guages, which ones? What else. You should know I do like to tinker, just don't know what to tinker with..Thanks...Lee
