KDP on a 93?

The new owner of my beloved 1993 CTD asked me about the killer dowel pin scenario and I told him I thought only some of the much later models (second gen) were affected. Now that I think of it though, I don't remember where I read that

. Am I wrong?
Is it living on borrowed time?
