rear end temp hot why normal

i have no temp gauge
when i drive empty 30 miles and touch rear diff cover

its hot

i ve had rear end re done 2 times this year

also have small vibration with small amounts of load or

throddle , down hill or up hills its smooth

is tthis u joints or pinon?
