New guys,myself included,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,'jever wonder where I got my name. I got the answers about injectors which I've been looking for, and wish to pass it along to the kind folk I've been in touch with via PM, and to all others stumbling around in the haze. No pun here
Here it is. High performance units; a stock injector modified by way of enlarged holes in tip, and needle valve cut in some fashion to allow more flow. A unit can be a hybrid of parts. The nozzle tips can be modified to various degrees. Example; swap factory tip for one from a different application. Or enlarge holes of factory tip, but this must be done within reason. That is to say within boundaries of that particular tip. All the holes can be opened or you can open a % of them. However,if a tip has 6 holes, 3 can be enlarged but not 2, or 5. A unit with only 4 holes can be all enlarged or simply do 2. Not 1 or 3. The spray pattern here is important.The important thing here is to tailor the modification[s] to meet you'r needs.
The "Cummins Marine" injector; This is a stock,high flow injector used in,you guessed it, marine applications. These are rated for a specific application. That is to say one will give higher HP than another.These will not flow near like a nozzle modified as above. Simply another option.
Was also told to me by this[local]fuel injection shop that extremely modified injectors are not street legal. What's extreme and,,,,who will stop us? One more thing. To update, modify and R&R commonly worn parts in the VE pump is $500 to $800. To modify and freshen the fuel injector is $100 to $200 per.We talked turbos too, but you guys know all that.
