Rear Diff
Hey guys and gals,
Spent this week assembling the dana 70 rear end. October 31 my brother was driving my truck and somehow three pinion teeth were removed from the pinion . I never saw one break this was. But after 206,000 troublefree miles I guess it was time to do a little work to it. The backlash was a little loose, but the wear pattern was good. I installed a new ring and pinion(3.54) with new pinion and carrier bearings. Guy at the drive train shop said the pinion failed from somebody dropping the clutch . Not like that has ever been done to MY truck Put about 40 miles on it last night, and today gonna put another 250 miles on it today and change the oil.
Boy I sure miss my 93 when its down for a while. Every time I drive it brings a smile to my face.
Next is get the gooseneck ball fixed so I can pull trailer again. The plate that was welded to the frame broke! Can't have anything to do with 8000 lbs trailer, 2 5000 lbs trucks, heavy right foot, and a good running CTD, can it???
Michael
