Free Power From The VE Pump

Several months ago I discussed with Old Smokey, some mods that I had done to several VE pumps, including my own. With no apparent ill effects. I never posted it here in public, because it closely resembled the effect that his fuel pins have. However, it has distinct advantages. One of which is no fuel leaks, also you can gain more travel overall, because of the pivot point of the vertical lever that the fuel pin rides on.
Several people have tried this mod and some are able to post on this forum. Since I originated this mod, I give permission to any who have used it, to pass it on. Many people install the 366 govenor spring for $12~$13, and when you do this it is also the ideal time to do this mod, since you need to have the top off of your pump to do it. Turning the top of your pump upside down and looking at it, you'll see a black lever, that teeter-totters vertically with a foot extending to the rear of the housing. It is this foot that we remove. Approximately 1/8 to 3/16 of an inch of metal. I just eyeball a straight line down the back edge of that lever, and grind the foot off. I tried to bend one and it broke off, oops~very brittle, yet hard. Grind it very smooth, because it is in contact with the fueling assembly, that your govenor spring and top hat are pulling forward, with 2 separate archs. So surfaces will have slight friction and wear over time. I also take the time, while the housing is off, to increase the travel both directions in your idle and high engine rpm. I remove both screws and grind the outside of the housing until the lever inside, touches the front of the housing. You could get more, but I have found it to be sufficient. These are the only mods that I want to reveal at this time. The others I have been sworn to secrecy. This will net about 7lbs. of boost. Some of the other guys can post what they have dyno'd with other injection and turbo combinations. I can say that I get 19.5 to 20.5 miles to the gallon and with my setup. This mod makes more heat, more smoke, and more POWER. If this is what you desire, then this is a good mod for you. I hope that you all enjoy it as much as I do, and I wish you all happy BOMB~ing.
