engine swap no tach?

swapped a 2001 into a 1999 body and now I am having issues with no tach and runs ruff.
do I need to change cmp pin on ecu or something?
stealership is saying need to change cam gear for lots of moneys
removing cam is not my favorite idea of fun weekend
has any one else had this problem
