Suspension Help Please!!!

Ok folks I have a question for the suspension and shock gurus.

I just blew out one of these heavy duty 8400gvw front billstein shocks
(pn BE5-2549.HO). I have a 7 year old 2" Skyjacker leveling kit (spacer and new coil springs). So I have a couple of items to consider:

1) My coil springs are going or gone bad, = too much weight on the shock.
2) I got a bad shock.
3) Did I get the wrong size shocks for my truck with the 2" leveling kit?

I'm thinking these shocks are not meant for the 2" extra, & I should have bought the 5100's in the beginning.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thank You.
