inop ignition key light

is there a thread on ignition key light that doesnt work. i have checked the bulb and tryed another dash power control module and didnt fix it. I also noticed that the wires comming out of the light assembly dont go to the proper pins on the 4 pin connector so i swaped them over and still no light.i dont think it ever worked and i diddnt notice it untill i got in a freinds truck. any ideas. 2001 quad diesel 4x4 . I
