New to this side

Howdy,
I sold my 05'

, so now I'm looking to get a 96-98 12v 5spd. 4x4 3500. It would be great if you guys could give me some insight on what to look for. I know about the nv4500 5th gear, is block 53 a 12v thing or a 24v problem? My plan is to look for a bone stock truck, prefferebly with maintnance records(probably wont happen cause I never did that). Also what are some topics I should do a search for to educate myself some more about 2nd gens. w/12v's.
