Question Fuel pres. sender. No teflon tape on threads?

OK, maybe the third time will be a charmI'm sure I'll get the hang of it,but I'm not happy w/ this new system. Took me three trys to post this.
The instructions that came w/ my fuel gauge said not to use teflon tape on the sender threads. Does this have something to do w/ the conductivity of teflon? What about gas resistant pipe dope? Same thing?
TIA
Tom
