factory fog lights

was underneath the truck replacing what i thought would be a burnt out bulb on the factory fog lights this morning,, discovered a short instead on the bulb socket,,, was wondering,, instead of just replacing the socket and thus keeping the factory "WEAK" foglights,,, is there some form of upgrade you guys have done to the foglights? I would rather upgrade them while im down there soldering wires.
