Fixed the floppy flip up towing mirrors

I've read of a few guys that have this problem. Mirror in the flip up towing mirrors is so loose, they won't stay put.

Actually, once you realize that the mirror has to come out, it's not that bad. There's no other way to get to the hold down nut.

I used a hair dryer to get the morror surface nice and hot. Then I carefully pried the mirror up from one of the edges while still using the hair dryer to keep the glass hot. I used a small screwdriver the lift the edge enough to get a 3" scraper under it.
With a little persuasion, the main mirror(not the little spot mirror) slowly lifts up as the adhesive lets loose.

Then I just took a socket that fit over the little star shaped hold down nut and gave it a little tap. That's where the problem starts. Then I just used a little liquid nails to make sure everything stays in place. I would just use silicone and the double sided tape to put the glass back in, just in case.

Once you get past the glass part, it's pretty easy. I got the first mirror out without a problem. The second one cracked on me. Dodge does not sell a replacement glass for these mirrors. However, the mirror is perfectly flat, so I'm having a mirror shop cut a new mirror for me. I just traced the outline of the mirror on a piece of cardboard, cut out a template and left the template and the mirror housing at the shop so they could fit the glass in for me.

BTW, I bought these mirrors off of Ebay knowing they were loose. I think I only paid $68.00 for the pair.

Now, do I replace the power mirrors with these?

A couple of pics.
