Short circuit in power seat

On my 98 2500 Quad Cab I had a shorted feed wire in the drivers side power seat. It was caused because of where the wire bundle is routed going to the control switches. The wires comes from the various motors under the seat and go up between the seat cusion and the seat frame. The frame has a very sharp edge and when you sit on the seat your weight squeezes the wire down on it. The red feed wire was the second one to ground out. The result of this was two dead batteries at a camping area in Maine. I cut two slots in the frame and bent the section down and filed it where the wire hits and added a generous amount of tape. A friend has a 2001 and they added a piece of stick-on tape onto the frame. I wrote to DM/CH and asked if they could spell engineer or engineered.
