Autoloc + Mystery Switch?
Well I did some more investigation on my new to me truck and found that my truck is equipped with a BD autoloc in addition to the BD exhaust brake. I have yet to find out whether or not there has been a valve body and torque convertor replacement done in the tranny yet, but on monday i am going to take it into the shop and will have that answer. If i have not had any tranny mods i plan to replace the valve body with a DTT livestock body.
Anyhow what my problem is, is that i dont particularly care for the way the autoloc functions...i hate having to accelerate in order to lock up the torque convertor so i can de-celerate.
What i was wondering was if i could wire in a mystery switch between the autoloc and the transmission. I was thinking i would install the three position, so that one position would be lock, one position would be unlock and the other position would just be Autolock when the ebrake is switched on, and when the ebrake is switched off it would be stock. After downloading the wiring diagram from BD's website i don't foresee any problems here, but then again i am just a dumb kid!
My master plan is to have the DTT valve body and torque convertor and to eventually pull out the crappy autolock and mystery switch and install a smart controller, but because of limited funds (from this truck purchase) all I can afford to do at this time would be replace the valve body. With the DTT valve body and stock torque convertor with the autolock and mystery switch setup should i expect to dust my transmission soon? I was told that if i replace the valve body this should be enough to extend the life of my transmission quite a bit.
Oh yeah the other thing i wanted to point out was that i only plan to use the TCC lock-ups for my braking...definitely not as an acceleration tool.
Sorry for the long post and any suggestions would be much appreciated
Grant
