Are my front springs weak or what???

I just traded for an 04 3500 2wd 4door dually. The front end seems to be real low. There is about an inch of play before bottoming out on the rubber stop. Is this normal? I had a 97 3500 2wd ext cab dually a few years back and I had to put a step on it for mama to get in. This truck is about cheek high for mama.
The tires don't show any unusal wear, it doesn't pull to either side and you can't tell if it is bottoming out or not. The stopper above the rubber stop is shinny like it is hitting all the time. It rides real good tho.
I am puzzled but more concerned about beating the front end up. I haven't been on the site here for some time and I know very little if anything about this 04 truck.
I sure would appreciate any feedback I could get on this. Not sure if the springs have become weak or what.
Thanks
