considerable weight difference????

Can anyone suggest a good reason why my title and MSo for my 2004 1/2 Ram 3500 shows the weight as 6900# and the actual weight over a scale is 7960#? I have maybe 400# of add-ons, grill guard and running boards. That is a LARGE difference? Any thoughts? Have e-mailed dodge. will let you know what their repsonse is... Thanks......
