1" rubber spacer for front spring question.

I saw them on ebay and might buy them. 2" is just too high for me doesn't look right I think. My question is can I squeeze the coil enough to slip in the split doughnut spacer on the bottom of coil without removing the spring? Thanks dudes. 2004 4x4 quad 2500 dsl.
