Broken passenger mirror

My son-in-law backed my 2004.5 2500 into a post and broke the passenger side mirror. I bought a replacement fromDodge only to find out that the circular retaining ring that snaps into the housing is not supplied with the replacement mirror. The Dodge parts guys said that it was not sold separately and I need to buy the whole enchilada to the tune of about $350!!!

Ouch! surely someone knows where to get just the round retainer? Help!
