overhead reading

why is my fuel milage calculator always off by 2 miles per gallon. it shows 11.50 and i get 9.50 hand calculated. that is towing with a 06 mega cab made in june 06. my 03 that i just traded never got below 11.80 hand calculated. 60 miles less tank
