Steering Kit??

I recently took my 06 to the stealership for a clunking noise in the front end. They told me there is a factory kit to fix a design flaw in the steering. It supposedly replaces most of the steering components. Not only is it $850 (installed), but it is on permanent back order from DC. Has anyone else run into this, or are they feeding me big helping of BS?
