My ft. brake pad story.

I utilize my truck for personal use and it’s also used as an emergency rescue vehicle. The original ft pads were real thin by 82K so I though I’d save some money and go with the Mopar Value Plus pads from Genos. My reasoning was if their a “Mopar” line item, then they must be pretty good, Right? All’s I can say in hindsight is “what the hell was I thinking” ??
One week after I installed the pads, I managed to get them to fade completely during a fire call ! (Now bear in mind that during a fire call, the vehicle is basically going from WOT to full braking many, many time in a short amount of time)
I was towing our rescue airboat and responding to a report of two watercrafts that collided in the river. Needless to say, we were running hot…
About two minutes into the run, I went to put the brakes on and they were starting to fade. 30 seconds and two intersections later, I had lost over 90% of my stopping power and even after long stretch of highway (cool them down?) didn’t bring them back to normal.
It was painfully obvious that these brake pads were not designed for anything but a lightweight truck that doesn’t tow anything and is only driven to church on Sunday by granny (or gramps).. But wait, there’s more!

Now we turn to the part in the story where it goes from a tragic epic to a “happily ever after” ending..

I contacted Genos with the intent of just informing them of my experience with the Mopar Value pads and to “maybe or somehow” enlighten people who utilize their vehicle for rescue operations that these pads are NOT the way to go..
Imagine my surprise when Wendy from Genos contacted me and said a set of the HD Hawk Pads were being sent to me at no charge and that Genos was very, very sorry for any inconvenience. WOW! I didn’t see that coming, but I was very happy about it.

In this day and age of mediocre service at best, Genos Garage proved once again that the ONLY service they provide is A-1, Top Notch….. I’ve been a customer of theirs for many moons and you can bet I’ll be one for many more….

A hearty Thanks to Wendy and the rest of the staff at Genos Garage.

BTW, the vehicle involved in this “brake-destruction” is the one on this issues cover of TDR. Thanks guys…….
