rear suspension lowering
I have recently become a new owner of a 3rd Generation truck (2WD) and was measuring the height difference at the rear bumper and hitch area vs. my old but not forgotten '99 and noticed that my new truck sits about 1 to 1.5 inches higher. Out of curiousity I removed the 2 spacers from between the axle housing perch and the leaf spring pack and bolted everything back up to have a look see. The truck was sucessfully lowered an inch, but the top brake caliper bolt would be impossible to get out for brake servicing later due to the bottom leaf spring in the way. So back to stock height for now, but boy did that 1 inch lower make the truck sit better in the rear.
I was wondering about doing away with the leaf springs to go with an airbag setup so that I could lower the rear of the truck approx 2 inches. I have searched online but have not found much at all for the 2003 trucks. Has anyone seen a stand alone airbag kit with a panhard bar yet? If not, it probably won't take long for something to develop in the aftermarket.
