Bombing for High Rpm's on the 3rg gen

I was reading a thread in the competition forum and i found that having 4.10 gears you need to bomb your truck for high rpm's on 24 valves. My truck has 4.10's and 34" tires. What do i have to do to bomb my truck for the higher rpm ranges and keep my egt's down. I know ill need the givens (turbo,chips,injectors,fuel lines,etc..) But am i going to need a cam? new head?
