explain

Could someone please explain the basics of "bombing".Although I'm not new to diesels,I am new to computer controlled injection.I have always had mechanical pumps. Turn a screw more fuel.Pressure boxes,stacking,duration,etc is all new to me.Sure would like to understand what everybody is talking about.
