First tranny upgrades?

I am looking for a way to lock up the torque converter on my tranny when pulling 7% grades on windy roads. Seems that the tranny likes to get warm in this situation. Every time I get up to speed and the tranny locksup, I have to slowdown for a sharp corner. Would a Commander or Pro-Loc Torque locker work ? I am not a tranny man
