Question Airfilter Oil: when to say when?

Title says it all. Giving my AFE a freshening and am not quite sure how much is just right. AFE oil? , you've got to be kidding me. There's no way to tell how much you have on the thing! Used other brand, KN, because its red and you can at least see your coverage. The only thing I'm worried about is by the time you've got the bottom of the pleats covered (read colored) the top ridges appear saturated. Let it soak in and paper toweled off the excess. Not a lot mind you, but over oiling is prolly worse than not enough eh? Peered inside and no color seeped through. Hand's too pudgy to fit it and can inside the element to spray it too.

Yeah Yeah, AFE says to use there oil for obvious rea$on$.

I feel like Ray Charles in a punkin patch.

So how bout it fellas? When is it just right?
