Fass fuel line connection - TDR Roundtable

Installing my stand alont 95gph pump and I can't get the new fuel line "quick disconnect" back on the tank fitting. Is the black plastic piece on the tank fitting supposed to stay there, or it is supposed to be removed to install the fass fitting?
