48re will not go into Park

A couple of days ago, I went to put the truck in Park and it wouldn't go. Consequently, you can not get the key out.
Called the dealer and talked to a tech. He figured it was something elec., maybe a connector came loose.
Now he thinks it is something inside and they may have to drop the tranny?

Everything is stock. I tow a 5th wheel weighing around 10,000.

Any ideas!
