Uh-oh, Tranny Let Go!

Towing across flatlands earlier, 13K trailer on behind, cruise on, very little power being applied, and the tranny just lets go. (It's an 06 3500 with Goerend TC and VB, 5" exhaust, and intake). The weird part was that as I pulled off the road, at first the motor was revving freely, like in N, but then it suddenly stalled and wouldn't even turn over to re-start... like it was bound up...??? It was dripping tranny fluid out of the front housing, too.

Any thoughts on what might have happened (the dealer won't get to it until next week)? Maybe the input shaft broke and took out the TC causing it to bind up on the engine side?
