I cant run a gear vendors overdrive
I just got off the phone with the sale staff at gearvendors the makers of that overdrive unit yal love so much. after talking to him for a few minutes i quickly realized it wasnt for me. i read on their website they were not only adding to the overall OD they were adding speeds in between my 48re this would a 48re tremdously cuz it would make it more of a close ratio tranny which translates to alot of positive things. My reason for looking into it was increase in topspeed with rpm reduction and making my 48re live longer by having closer ratios.
COME TO FIND OUT they are bolting these units on the back of the transfer cases on 4wd's and on the back of 2wd trannies. I personally find myself needing 4wd on the street spring summer fall winter. I cant never hook up in bad conditions and making u-turns on a 4 lane highway with a big grass median between the two directions of traffic is impossible on sundays and late on saturdays with the beach traffic rolling through town unless i have it in 4wd. I dont have any noticeable bidding or skipping in the front end those who say 4wd is bad on street. too much power = lots of spinning or drifting which traslates to pissing off state trooper OR getting rear ended.
those of you who use 4wd in snow ice rain, mud just forget about gearvendors UD/OD. wish i knew of a company that offered a splitter to go in between my t-case and tranny i could shift while going down the road.
