Noise on Cool Hose

Issue 56 of TDR listed resutls of test that showed 7 hp gain with cold air intake and removing silencers in the turbo intake. My question is will the tag
3 in the intake hose cut down on the noise level and just how much noise is
there. I have done the homemade cold air and love it, I would like to do the cool hose but don't want much noise.
