Help with a Noise!

I got in my 04 3500 to come home tonight and notice the Cummins had developed a slight miss and a distinct tapping sound. The tapping got faster as the rpms increase. Injector? Valve? EdgeAttitude? I weighed about 28000 and could noticed a loss of power at the begining of the drive home. After about 10 minutes on the road everything seems normal and by the time I was home I couldn't detect any miss or tap. Any ideas where to start looking? Thanks for your help.
