Bought a used ECM . .. what's next? DEALER, SMARTY, Plug it in and go?

I bought a used ECM from a local salvage outfit for $250.00 to replace my failed unit. What is next? Do I have to go to the dealer to have it installed? Does the truck have to be reflashed? Do I need a SMARTY amd can SMARTY send me a recovery program? Can I just plug and play?
