heater block?

I took out the heater grid and now my truck is throwing a p2609 code.. i erased it with my edge attitude monitor but it came back a couple of days later. I really dont want to put the stock heater block back in cause it definitly causes some air flow restriction. the block thats in now is from glacier diesel.. anyone have any ideas on how to get rid of that code?
