Any experience with 3.42 gear and the NV5600?

I am writing to see if anyone with an NV5600 changed to 3.42 and what the end result was/is. I have 04.5 2WD Quadcab 3500 SRW w/NV5600 and 3.73 and drive more than 30,000 per year and mostly freeway commute and we all know $4+/gal is a killer. I do not tow and truck weighs a good 9000lbs. I am not sure that a GV overdrive is the way to go, but I wouldn't turn down input on that option either. Any input is greatly appreciated.
