Smarty "Wrong VIN" - Looking for DRB help in Detroit Metro Area

Well I recieved my Smarty yesterday morning. Tried to download a few times yesterday and kept getting the "Wrong Vin" error. So I called Bob yesterday afternoon and he said that on the early 03s the last 4 digits for the VIN in the ECM can be missing.

So I was wondering if anyone in the Detroit Metro area has a DRBIII tool or knows someone at a dealer that would be willing to help?

I found a few other thread of similar occurances, and it seems like it only takes 5 minutes to fix to program the VIN into the ECM.

I tried calling my local dealer down the street and explain the situation to the service manager, but he was like a greedy baby, he could not understand what I was talking about and all he could think about was the flat rate fee just to hook up the DRB. #@$%! And I could not find any TSBs about this.

Bob said that if I could not find anyone to help he would get Marco to write a recovery file for my ECM, but if I can save everyone the hassle I would prefer that.

PS - If anyone needs a GM Tech2, I have easy access to one if you are ever working on a GM vehicle.

Thanks,
Nate
