Gutless truck; what's best to boost HP's, reduce EGT's?

I just posted that the truck (04.5) has thrown a code and that the truck is very gutless, especially towing the horse trailer.
After I have the code issue fixed, I'd like something to bump up the HP a bit and something to reduce the EGT's ~150-200˚. What's out there that would be the best way to accomplish that mission?

All suggestions welcome. Hills that I climb include the Grapevine in SoCal with the horse trailer around 14K lbs.
