Fault Code #2146 Question

my 2006 3500 5.9 57k miles completely stock no power adders, lost power with check engine light present. a snap on scanner presented short,open or ecu as possible problems. I checked for the obvious cleared the code and the truck ran fine for a couple of weeks. The same problem and code reoccured. Towed the truck to a dodge service dept with code still present. The explanation was the valve cover gasket that houses the wiring for the injectors was the problem.I had a conversation with a friend with the same problem also a 2006,was given the same explanation and UN sucessful repair.The problem continued to present.The dealer was next pointing at the ecu. Since his truck was not under warranty he took it to an independent diesel specialist that tested the injector ohm readings to find a faulty injector. It was replaced and the problem has not returned. I shared this info with the dealer that presently has my truck and they say they are not authorized to perform ohm testing on my injectors.I just dont want to return with the same experience.Am I wrong in thinking, what a better time to just cover that base while the gasket is being replaced? It appears to be a service tree perimeter that the dealer is unwilling to go beyond.The repair is under warranty. I dont want to sound like a know it all to the dealer.How ever my friends experience has me concerned.The repair being under warranty motivates me to the dodge service dept. Anyone else with similar experience?
