Dyna Trac Free-Spin Install
I had a wheel bearing go south so I decided to get the Free-Spin kit.
The Install intructions were ok but, they have install information for other applications which is always a pain. They have tools also listed that you don't need. 14mm 12 point socket must be for the earlier trucks on our trucks you need a 18mm socket. I had to buy a 1 11/16" 3/4" drive socket to get the spindle nuts off and just needed a 4ft snipe to break them with my snow brush wedged against the brake pedal. You also need a puller to remove the rotors and the old bearing. Big one for rotors and smaller for bearings. Patience is necessary to get the bearings off. Buy two ujoints in case you damage yours or just change them since you are in there. Other maintenance I would recommend would be ball joints and brakes if you have higher milage. You have stuff apart anyways. You also need two tubes of grease. (I used amsoil). You need loctite. Six point spanner socket for spindle nuts. Torque wrench. Antiseize, emery cloth, WD-40, brake cleaner,
I had to torch out my u-joints as they were original an then press them out. I went to use my brothers ujoint installer but it was too small for my ujoints. You can feel the difference the kit makes right away by turning the wheel with the hub locked and then unlocked.
I bought my ujoints and spanner socket from dyna trac. Less expensive and guaranteed to be the right ones.
