Register HO in California????

Does anyone know if I purchase an 03 HO 4X4 in Nevada and have it registered in that state for a year or so, will I be able to register it in California after that year has gone by? We don't have smog tests on diesels in California yet. I know they are coming. We also don't have to smog new gas vehicles for the first four years.
Would they just deny registration in California????? Thanks for any info.......
