03 vs. 04

considering purchase of 2500 ho/auto 4x4 quad stbd....missed order date....please advise as to any known diff. 03/04......any input on 47 vs. 48 tranny?.......acceleration of HO VS. SO from a dead....noticeable?.........4.? vs. 3.? gear from a dead ....noticeable?.....embarrassed to say 95% use w/ no load........DAILY DRIVER.......only diesel exp thus far twin TAMD-41 'S.......Volvo I-6 marine T/A 'S......ANY AND ALL INPUT IS APPRECIATED.............HIGHRISK.
