Can you do any mods to new trucks? Exhaust?

My nieghbor is really looking hard to get a new truck but always likes to change the exhaust and do something simple like a Banks system to boost the power. Problem is all he has heard so far is NO! Is this true. He just sold his 06 crew cab 6.0 that would run 14.95 @ 91 here in Denver with just a Banks module and 5" exhaust. Liked it a lot but he is leary of the new 6.4.
