Engine Light at 3300 Miles

To say I am irritated about having the engine light come on at 3300 miles would be an understatement. Happened up in Yellowstone which is a long ways from anywhere. Anyway, drove the truck back to Cody and made it so that is good. How do I check to see what codes are being thrown and what they mean?

P.S. Got 19 miles per gallon (empty) round rip on my way to Jackson and back so that was very exciting!
