EX-brake ?

Not sure if my exhaust brake is staying on during a no throttle coast, Not all the time but sometimes when say... pulling off the freeway to an exit right as i let off and start to coast I can feel/hear the exhaust brake come on.... Great!
Then it seems that the truck will down shift and the exhaust brake turns off and will stay off??

again sometimes it will pull me hard down to around 25MPH other times it feels like it's not opperating??

as soon as i start the truck i turn the brake on and leave it on. I will also drive using the TOW/haul button. with the truck in the tow/haul mode the exhaust brake will seem to work a bit better, but still will sometimes apear to "turn off" mid way thru the coast down.

Any ideas?
