Intake Baffle: Does anyone know it well? Is it's sole purpose sound deadening?

I'd like to get a slight amount more of turbo whistle on this new truck, but do not want to put in an intake kit for fear of voiding the warranty. I've read about people pulling the intake baffle but I just wanted to get some trusted advice that the baffle is indeed not going to have any affect on the intake sensors or anything engine related, or filtering related as it has a foam wrapper on it. I just want to make sure that Dodge doesn't try to slap my wrist for pulling it if I take the truck in for other warranty issues.

thanks.
