How to increase MPG - Master list?

I have seen many threads regarding one or two things that can be done to increase MPG, but I have yet to see a master list with all the things that can be done and what kind of increase is expected. So........

What things need to be done (legal or not legal

) to increase fuel economy? Is there certain things that can be removed or bypassed? What about chips and programmers? Is there one that caters specifically to fuel economy? Has anyone tried anything yet? what numbers did you see?

Anyone have any thoughts?
