Thanks for all the feedback, and yes - I believe mine has been doing the regens regularly while using cruise control, but really makes me wonder about where some of these rumors start. I'm going to talk to the service manager about it and see if they can provide documentation or a source. That kind of info needs to be corrected. Just like ignoring a failed DPF that has black soot in the tailpipe and history of DPF codes.

Mine worked just great until 85,000kms. at 45,000 the dealer did a reflash to the "AX", work perfect before and after the flash.
Then it got the "G30" recall, and a flash up to "AW" truck worked perfect, never saw a code.
then at 85,000kms it all began, MIL and EVIC "80% full..90%, 100%. Dealer forced a regen, and ordeed a new DPF. Truck ran fine while I waited for parts, and fine after DPF was replaced.
More codes came at 97,000kms but dealer cleared by way of a forced regen.
Today at 101,000kms within about 10 miles it went from working fine to dead.
Black smoke was wild, then it quit!
Was towed to a local dealer , they tried to regen but no luck. Another DPF is on order, 10 day wait !!!!!!!!
My dealer has been informed, he's contacting Chrysler as I told him if I have no truck for 10 days , I also have no business ! I told him that I'm asking myself " can I run a business with a Dodge"
meanwhile truck is 2 hours from home as is my trailer and cargo.
I'm less than happy right now !
3 trips to the dealer and loss of truck for 13 days in 3 months is NOT the plan !

wish me luck
thanks for letting me vent

RDHamill, I feel your pain only mine is not near as bad. I have a 07.5 and it is used to tow my welding trailer around. At 3,000 miles I threw a code and had to go in for the G30 recall. At 7,700 miles I got another code and got a new turbo. Both times I was able to get it in on a Saturday and got it back the same day so it didn't hurt business, but if I was in your situation I would be screaming for a rental or something.

Freebore, I have been doing some digging/poking around at my local friendly Dodge dealer and I think I found the source of this confusion. When a tech sets up a truck to do a mobile regen there is a screen that pops up, it has some warnings and one of them says to have cruise control off. So, I think that dealers have inferred incorrectly from this screen that cruise control disables regen.

I'm wondering if it's possible that the tubes leading to the pressure sensor ( for DPF) which is mounted on tranny crossmember is getting plugged and not telling the ECM that it should regen , and therefore the DPF becomes plugged ???
any thoughts ???

Thanks for the update - it sounds like a good explanation, but as you say they assume wrong.

My 2008 4500 regens in cruise. It also try to start a regen when I'm stopped at a light. Exhaust temp gauge doesn't lie. Preturbo temp jumps at least 300 degrees on the same trip.

Well now it's Sept 4, my truck is still waiting for parts and as such, out of service since last Monday. 2 weeks with no truck is not good for my business. I called Chrysler customer service today to start a file on my complaint about the wait for parts. While I got a file #, it was really a waste of time. what should I do next ??? The delete EGR / DPF kit sounds like the way to keep the truck on the road.

Well all I can say is all the trucks shipped to Canada and made in Mexico have Fleetguard After Treatment CAT and DPF part numbers on them. You can call me a lier all you want it does not change the facts. How ever after running temperatures of 1400 degrees there are no labels left on any part of the system. just a side note my last Active Regen cycle ran as high as 1400 degrees and the total duration of the procedure was 79 minutes, as confirmed by the StarScan at the dealer by the shop foreman when I brought it in to state the truck was running very long periods of regen. I did not tell him how long he told me after doing extensive testing which confirmed to me his testing confirmed what was happening in real life also when and for how long and at what temperatures the last regen occurred. It does store a lot of information.
