Emissions Components Life Span

I know what the warranty states (Fed & Ca - from 5yr-8yr/50k-100K, very convoluted). What is the actual/observed life span of components in the emissions system listed below? There should be enough high mileage vehicles out there to get an estimate.

ERG (Exhaust Gas Recirc) valve
EGR cooler
CCC (Closed Coupled Catalyst)
NOx catalyst
DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter)

Which of these components, when degraded, will prevent the engine from functioning? Will it be the computer controls that prevent it from functioning?
It is odd to me that none of the warranties (Fed nor Ca) specifically mentions the DPF.
